Connect Allied Health occupational therapists are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). We are dedicated to promoting and supporting effective participation for children and adults in the occupations of everyday life.

Occupational therapy for children

Our paediatric occupational therapists are passionate about working with children and are skilled to target the following areas:

  • Gross motor skills (whole body movement involving the large core stabilising muscles of the body to perform everyday functions, such as standing, walking, running, and sitting upright. They also include hand-eye coordination, e.g., throwing, catching and kicking).
  • Fine motor skills (coordination of hands and fingers, e.g., doing up buttons and zips, using pencils, writing, and tying shoelaces).
  • Sensory processing (refers to the way the brain receives, organises and responds to sensory input in order to behave in a meaningful & consistent manner, e.g., sensitivities to loud noises or light, movement seeking, and meltdowns).
  • Attending and concentrating.
  • Self-care tasks, e.g., toileting and dressing.
  • Education for parents and carers.

Your Child May Benefit From Occupational Therapy If They:

  • Have difficulties walking smoothly by 2 years.
  • Have difficulties holding a crayon with thumb and finger (not fist) or eating without assistance by age 2-3 years.
  • Unable to catch using body by 3 years.
  • Have difficulties snipping paper by 3-4 years.
  • Unable to kick a ball forward by 4 years.
  • Have difficulties writing their own name by 4-5 years.
  • Cannot draw basic pictures by 5-6 years.

Occupational therapy for adults

COccupational therapy can offer solutions to independence, participation, engagement and well-being for adults. Our occupational therapists are passionate about helping participants improve their mobility and quality of life, and can support the following areas:

  • Activities of daily living: Self-care activities such as showering, eating, and dressing.
  • Household and community functioning: Budgeting, shopping.
  • Education and work: Participate effectively in learning/work environments.
  • Leisure, play and social participation: Positive interaction and access to community.
  • Minor home modifications: Assess and modify participants’ homes and/or community environments to improve safety and independence.
  • Adaptive equipment: Prescribe and educate participants and carers in the use of adaptive equipment to assist function.
  • Independence: Help participants regain or enhance their daily lives after specific events such as hip replacement or stroke.

Jonathan

Clinical Lead Psychologist

Jonathan is a General Registered Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA), and he holds memberships with both the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi). Jonathan commenced with Connect Allied Health as Clinical Lead Psychology in 2024.

About Jonathan:

Dedicated to fostering strong working relationships within therapy, Jonathan thrives on collaborative efforts to realize client objectives and aspirations. Central to his ethos is a commitment to personal growth, guiding individuals to overcome obstacles and unlock their potential. Embracing a person-centered philosophy, Jonathan customises each session to address his clients’ unique requirements, drawing from a diverse array of therapeutic frameworks including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-based interventions. With a keen interest in psychological assessment, Jonathan specialises in diagnosing conditions such as ADHD, Autism, and Specific Learning Disorders. He also conducts comprehensive cognitive assessments to ascertain full-scale IQ, educational attainment, and learning styles, as well as executive functioning.

Jonathan’s professional journey encompasses diverse roles, ranging from baking and piloting large-scale drones to personal training and working within the NDIS sector, catering to clients with varied needs. Beyond his professional pursuits, Jonathan finds joy in watching Formula One, washing his cars, hitting the gym, and cherishing quality time with his loved ones and pets.

Charlotte completed a Master of Occupational Therapy at the end of 2022. She is looking forward to working with people of all ages to support independence and overall well-being outcomes. She is excited to be a part of the team and has been enjoying getting to know clients.

About Charlotte:

Before becoming an Occupational Therapist, Charlotte studied Psychological Science and French at university She has experience working in Virtual Reality research with adults in acute palliative care and aged care settings. She worked as a mentor with teenagers and young adults during her studies.

Charlotte appreciates the client-centred emphasis of Occupational Therapy, valuing fun and engaging sessions with clients and their families.

Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

Mishka joined the Connect Allied Health team halfway through 2023- working as a positive behaviour support practitioner. She has degrees in social work and behavioural science and is passionate about improving people’s quality of life.

About Mishka:

Mishka has over 6.5 years’ experience working with children and people with disability. She loves working with children and supporting people with trauma and developmental delays. She has extensive experience with autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, complex trauma, and various mental health diagnoses. She is passionate about increasing people’s sense of belonging and connection with the community. She likes coming up with creative solutions and helping people meet their goals.

Therapy Coordinator

Katie joined Connect Allied Health in March 2021, she joins us with over 12 years’ experience in finance and enjoys all aspects of it.

Her current role is Finance Officer where she looks after accounts receivable (which mainly involves invoicing, payment allocations, and debtors) and assists with payroll.

Katie enjoys learning new things within the health industry (especially within NDIS).

Katie has worked in the health industry for 6 years and enjoys working for a company, that she feels, ‘truly cares about the clients and staff’.

About Kate:

Kate plays an important role in supporting the clinical team and in ensuring participants are able to access preferred supports and services at times that work for their individual needs.

Previously, Kate has worked in various healthcare settings including allied health, general practice and specialist doctor clinics, and has experience in both administrative and clinical assistance roles. She is also qualified and previously worked as a remedial massage therapist before moving to full-time office work when moving to Adelaide from regional Victoria in 2020.

Christie has had a range of roles including customer service in retail and hospitality, field staff for non-for-profit organisations overseas, medical receptionist, administration and scheduling in the allied health industry. Each of these roles have contributed to her current role now to support her team, therapists and our CAH families.

Jemma joined CAH in 2019 as an administration assistant before changing and involving into various roles, her current role being Governance and Compliance ManagerJemma’s current roles focuses on ensuring compliance for both staff and clients for our NDIS audits.

 
About Jemma:

Prior to joining CAH Jemma had a varied history, including being; a school teacher, complaints case manager within telecommunications, travel agent and in various scheduling roles.

Outside of work

Jemma spends most of her time with her son Caleb, husband Daniel and numerous pets (currently her dog Sophie, two cats and lots of fish).

Jemma also has a love of traveling, visiting a number of countries including Egypt, Jordan, China, the UK, America, Indonesia and Thailand. The next big destination she is dreaming of is Peru (Machu Picchu).

Maria joined the CAH team in 2023 as a Developmental Educator and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner. She loves working and supporting people with diverse backgrounds to meet their needs and achieve their goals.

About Maria:

Maria has prior experience working in a variety of settings with a diverse range of people in various roles such as a support worker/mentor, therapy assistant and student support officer in education settings. She commenced working as a Developmental Educator and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner in 2021 where she has supported young people and adults to develop social skills, transition/engage in the community, support with activities of daily living, transport training, emotional regulation, basic communication development and support the reduction of behaviours of concerns. Maria has a passion for supporting people to achieve their goals in a person-centred, fun, and creative way that is also motivating to the person and their needs!

Liz joined CAH in June of this year. With a background of more than 20 years as a dedicated teacher, Liz pursued postgraduate studies in Positive Behaviour Support. Currently, her role involves working closely with individual clients and their stakeholders to provide practical strategies that promote independence and enhance their overall quality of life in their respective environments.

About Liz:

Liz’s professional journey spans over two decades as a Primary School Teacher, during which she has consistently strived to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all her students to flourish. Her invaluable firsthand experience working with children with disabilities has fuelled her passion for fostering a solution-focused atmosphere that prioritises inclusion and well-being. Liz also possesses a keen interest in trauma-informed practices, further emphasising her commitment to the holistic development of her students. 

Recently, Liz has successfully transitioned her expertise to work with individuals of all ages with disabilities. Her dedication lies in empowering her clients and their support networks to cultivate the necessary skills and knowledge to engage, participate, and thrive, ultimately enabling them to reach their full potential. Liz’s approach is centred around each individual, carefully tailoring her strategies to meet their specific needs while emphasising motivation, independence, and improved quality of life.

About Galih:

Galih completed a Bachelor of Psychology at University of Adelaide, followed by a Master of Occupational Therapy at Bond University in the Gold Coast. She has experience across a range of ages, cultures, and stages of life. Different areas she has worked in as an OT include infant, child, adolescent, and adult mental health; residential and community aged care; home modifications and assistive technology.

Jurida is a multilingual certified practicing speech pathologist and joined our clinic in 2022. She has experience working in a variety of settings and a variety of range of practise areas, including speech, language, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), literacy, fluency, social skills, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and paediatric dysphagia.

About Jurida:

Juri holds a fundamental belief that the ability to communicate with others and everyday participation in functional activities is an essential right. She uses evidence -based practice, and is passionate about supporting people across the lifespan to improve their communication and everyday participation in functional activities.

Juri is committed to providing holistic and individualised care through a client -centred approach, and enjoys connecting with clients and their families forming positive relationships, for an enhanced contribution to their development through therapy sessions.

Clara is a multilingual speech pathologist and joined our clinic in 2023. She has experience working with children and adults to promote skills in speech, language, social communication, play, literacy and fluency.

About Clara:

Clara’s mother tongue is Spanish and she is proficient in Italian. She has a deep understanding of the cultural and linguistic differences that can impact speech sounds, language development and communication across languages and cultures. This allows her to provide tailored and culturally respectful therapy to multilingual clients, their families, carers and schools.

Clara is also a mum to two teenage boys, so she understands how busy life gets with young children. She is passionate about involving families and teachers to ensure therapy goals are realistic and compatible with life outside the clinic.

Clara provides evidence based practice and works collaboratively with clients of all ages, abilities, languages and cultures to achieve meaningful and functional therapy outcomes. She does this by clearly explaining the rationale behind therapy choices and regularly measuring progress.

Kasey joined Connect Allied Health in January 2023 as a New Graduate Speech Pathologist following the completion of her Bachelor Degree in Speech Pathology in 2022. Kasey is passionate about working with clients of all ages to support them in reaching their goals.

About Kasey:

Kasey has experience working with children for 5 years as a disability support worker and an OSHC educator. Throughout these roles Kasey developed her skills and knowledge of working with and supporting children and their families to reach their goals.

During her final year of study, Kasey completed an honours project looking into the role of speech pathologists in frailty, expanding her knowledge of the adult population as well as the research world.

Kasey travelled to Port Pirie and Mount Gambier during her University studies to complete clinical placements, gaining rich experience while working in the rural setting.

Nilakshi graduated from Flinders University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Occupational Therapy and she recently joined the Connect Allied Health team. She is passionate to support clients of all ages and to see them engage in meaningful occupations and become independent.

About Nilakshi:

Nilakshi is a very friendly clinician who has experience teaching piano for a wide range of students in various schools across Adelaide. She has enjoyed working with children and families supporting their development while studying at university. She has also thoroughly enjoyed her experience working with adults during her placements at university.

Dominique joined Connect Allied Health in 2023 as a Speech Pathologist after graduating her Bachelor of Speech Pathology in late 2022. She works with children and adults across the lifespan to improve their quality of life and functional communication.

About Dom:

Dominique has experience working in a variety of settings and a variety of range of practise areas including fluency, speech, language, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), literacy and social skills.

Dominique has a special interest in supporting individuals who are minimally verbal through the use of AAC systems, to access the different functions of language. She also has a keen interest in dysphagic clients. Furthermore, Dominique enjoys providing therapeutic supports to her clients with speech and articulation communication difficulties, working with families to provide at-home support. She enjoys providing therapy sessions that take a neurodiverse and holistic approach, and understanding what motivates the client to support the best outcomes of therapy.

Physiotherapist

Karla is an experienced physiotherapist, and joined the CAH team in September of 2022. She enjoys making sure that people can function as pain free and to the best of their abilities through exercises and hands on physiotherapy.

About Karla:

Karla has been a physiotherapist for 10 years, mainly working with the adult population. Karla has experience supporting people of all ages and walks of life, from footy players to those in aged care facilities. She has enjoyed working in rehab settings, to support elderly people to remain in their homes after injury or illness. Karla’s passion is to ensure that everyone, from young children to older adults, are able to function to their full potential and be as independent as possible.

Karla is continuing to develop her paediatric skills to best support children, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, in improving their core strength and engagement in physical activities.

Tania commenced as a Developmental Educator in July 2022, and is passionate about working in a role where she can support people with disability to build capacity and independence and to achieve their goals.

About Tania:

Tania brings a wide variety of different experiences to her role as Developmental Educator, previously having worked for 25 years as a nurse and 18 months as a Support Coordinator. She also has lived experienced. As a nurse she worked with a wide variety of people including individuals with dementia and difficult behaviours. Support Coordination has shown her the intricacies of the NDIS funding model and how to get the best supports for your funding. Having personal lived experience brings with it the knowledge of how disability can affect a household and the support lived experience can bring to the therapy process.

Clinical Mentor – Speech Pathologist

Louisa began working as a Speech Pathologist in 2021 and believes that every individual has a right to communicate and express themselves. Louisa has worked with people across the lifespan in a wide range of clinical areas.

About Louisa:

Louisa has the most experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, supporting their speech and language development, literacy, social communication,  play skills and functional communication. She has additional training in early intervention, developmental language disorders and assessment and intervention for children with autism. In addition to working across a broad scope with children, Louisa has experience working with adults who have had strokes, intellectual disabilities, and voice disorders. For all her clients aged 0-99, she enjoys working collaboratively with them, their family and support network to create functional goals that will have the biggest difference to their lives.

Rosie Haddad graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Podiatry degree with first class Honours in 2005. She established Foot & Sole Podiatry in Torrensville SA in 2020 and has a satellite clinic with PartridgeGP in Glenelg enabling her to provide services in Metropolitan Adelaide SA.

About Rosie:

Rosie is a friendly and passionate Podiatrist with extensive experience across all areas of Podiatry. Rosie’s experiences include assessment and management of patients with Diabetes and chronic disease, Paediatric assessments, Sports related injury management, Orthotic therapy, Dry Needling of the lower limb, heel pain management, Ingrown toenail treatment, and General nail and skin care of the feet. She provides home visit treatments to clients with experiencing working with NDIS funded clientele.

About Far:

Far has worked in the disability space for approximately 6 years in various roles such as support worker/mentor, ABA therapist, therapy assistant and clinician. In her current role as a senior DE/PBS practitioner, Far enjoys supporting clients to overcome challenges in creative ways, and also loves celebrating the achievement of milestones and individual goals.

Cora joined the Connect Allied Health team in early 2021. She has experience across the lifespan in working with children in preschools and schools, working in a hospital with adults and working in an aged care home. She is looking forward to developing her skills as a new Occupational Therapist.

About Cora:

Cora is passionate about sharing her love for music, so whilst she was studying, she taught piano and cello to a wide range of students for 4 years. Cora has always loved children as she has 14 younger cousins who she grew up with. She enjoys the un-predictableness of them, getting to know their personalities and playing games with them. Trent joint CAH in February 2022. Trent is one of our Clinical Managers and is based in the Riverland. Trent spends his time supporting other clinicians and working with people all across the lifespan with a special interest in Complex Home Modifications, Assistive Technology, and helping people develop their skills and independent in Activities of Daily Living.

Trent is a valued member of the CAH leadership team.

Trent is a country man at heart and has lived / worked rurally his whole life. Trent started working as an OT in 2018 and has since had positions in both private and government roles working in Paediatrics, Acute Inpatients, Community Over 65s, Hand Therapy, and Rehabilitation.

About Emily:

Emily brings a wealth of experience working with children as a speech pathologist to CAH. Her work to date has focused on helping children with a diverse range of speech, language, social communication and literacy needs.

She completed a Bachelor of Music at Adelaide University, followed by a Bachelor of Speech Pathology at Flinders University, including a study abroad program at the University of Reading, UK.

Emily prides herself on providing neurodiversity affirming approaches for her neurodiverse clients as well as providing families with honest and clear communication. Emily delivers therapy in a kind and gentle manner to connect with children and their families. She loves being a part of the therapy journey with her clients and watching them reach their goals.

Kara is an experienced clinician and has worked with clients of all ages, from small children to the elderly. Kara is especially passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder to maximise their independence and reach their full potential.

About Kara:

Kara has recently supported clients to develop skills to make their lunch for school, shop for groceries in the community, and develop positive behaviour support plans to minimise and eliminate behaviours of concern.

Kara loves the vast nature of OT, with no two days being the same.

Mary is an experienced occupational therapist, with approximately 6.5 years in the field, and has been with CAH for just over 1 year. Mary has worked with clients of all ages and in a range of settings from aged care to paediatrics.

About Mary:

Mary has always held a true passion for assisting and supporting people of all ages increase their independence, achieve their individual goals, and improve their quality of life.

In the adult population, Mary has experience in equipment prescription, rehabilitation, and minor home modifications. In the paediatric population, Mary has experience working with children who have difficulties with fine and gross motor skills, behavioural difficulties, and sensory sensitivities, including children diagnosed with Intellectual Disability, learning delays, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Sarah is a dedicated and passionate speech pathologist, with around 5 years’ experience in the field. Sarah is passionate about working with children with speech, language, and social communication difficulties and adults with communication and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).

About Sarah:

Sarah enjoys all aspects of speech pathology and has a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support individuals who are non-verbal or minimally verbal to find ways other ways to communicate. Sarah is dedicated to providing person-centered interventions and creates personalised and fun sessions that are based on what motivates the individual to support engagement and the best possible outcomes.

Sarah’s role at Connect Allied Health also involves mentoring our dedicated and talented speech pathology team to support ongoing professional development, in line with our commitment to ensuring evidence-based practice. Sarah supports a collaborative approach at Connect Allied Health, working alongside our Director, Clinical Managers, and Senior Clinicians, to maximise client outcomes and continuity of care.
