Psychology
Psychology for children with disabilities focuses on understanding their unique needs and abilities, tailoring interventions to support their cognitive, emotional, and social development.
For adults with disabilities, psychology aims to empower individuals to navigate challenges, enhance their quality of life, and foster independence through personalised therapeutic approaches and community support systems.
Connect Allied Health psychologists are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi), and Australian Psychological Society (APS). Our passionate and skilled psychologists use a range of evidence-based approaches to support participants to achieve their full potential.
Psychology for Children
Psychology services for children encompass a variety of approaches, including play therapy to facilitate expression and emotional regulation, cognitive-behavioural therapy to address anxiety or behaviour concerns, and family therapy to strengthen familial support networks and enhance overall well-being. These interventions are tailored to the child’s developmental stage and specific challenges, fostering resilience, coping skills, and positive social interactions.

Psychology for Adults
Psychology services for adults encompass a range of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy to address anxiety, depression, or coping strategies, psychoeducation to enhance self-understanding and promote self-advocacy, and vocational counselling to support employment and career development, all aimed at promoting independence, improving quality of life, and fostering meaningful social connections. Our psychologists also draw from other evidence-based therapy modules such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Narrative Therapy. These interventions are tailored to the individual’s strengths, challenges, and personal goals, empowering them to lead fulfilling and self-directed lives.
ADHD Assessment
We offer comprehensive and in-depth assessment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) paired with cognitive assessment to fully understand how ADHD may be affecting you or your child. If you aren’t sure an ADHD assessment is right for you, we have screening options available. Many individuals who seek ADHD assessment experience some of the following symptoms and behaviours (list is not exhaustive):
- Difficulty concentrating in classes or at work for more than 5 to 10 minutes.
- Difficulty sitting still or wanting to get out of their seat constantly.
- Being easily distracted by visual or auditory stimuli, including other people.
- Excessive talking and being an ‘over-sharer’.
- Difficulty waiting your turn.
- Making impulsive and careless decisions without thinking them through.
Please note: We are unable to provide prescriptions for medication.

Cognitive Assessment
We offer a Cognitive Assessment using the most reliable measures available such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – 5th Edition (WISC-V) and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – 4th Edition (WAIS-IV). The Cognitive Assessment can identify strengths or differences in working memory, verbal comprehension, processing speeds and perceptual reasoning. A Cognitive Assessment can be used to help identify Intellectual Disability and other learning disorders.
Educational Assessment
Similar to our Cognitive Assessment, the Educational Assessment further evaluates the cognitive domain by using the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – 3rd edition (WIAT-III). The Educational Assessment can help identify strengths and differences in most areas of learning and development such as mathematic ability, English reading and writing, sentence building, and the ability to understand what is presented verbally or visually.
The Educational Assessment can provide valuable insight into what areas a student or adult may need specific assistance with at school, work or study such as extra help during mathematic classes or extra time on tests to understand and process information. The Educational Assessment can also help identify Intellectual Disability and other learning disorders such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia.
